I received my ATN XSight 3-12 last week. The first thing I did was installing the latest firmware (1.8.00.228 Beta update). Thereafter, I took it to the range to sight it in. The next day, I took it out hog hunting.

Heck of a value…just know what you are getting.

Okay folks, let me give you a little reasonable review here. First of all, you must have reasonable expectations. If you expect this to compete with a $6,000 NV set up, forget it. However, if you want an affordable solution that has tremendous flexibility, you got it! This system is far better than any Generation 1 NV I have looked through. (BTW, this is not a Gen 1/2/3/4 NV device. It is digital…totally different.) If you want a precision daytime scope for long range shooting, look elsewhere. If you want something that you can video your shots, and hunt with out to about 200 yards, depending on the size of the target, then this is probably great for you. I am a shooting instructor and use this as a tool for teaching people how to shoot, because I love being able to see what they are seeing. I can also use video playback to show them exactly what their rifle did at the moment of truth. It really shows when the shooter jerks or flinches. Plus the client loves having the video of their session. Another huge plus of this system is when hunting with my kids, I know what they are pointing at because I view it on my Android phone. I can help them select the right animal to shoot at, and I can be sure they are aiming at the right spot on the animal for an accurate shot. There have been a few very vocal people who have had problems with their units. I had a problem with mine and had to send it back, but the customer service I received and the quick turnaround was fantastic. I will buy from ATN again with utmost confidence!

Amazing. To be fair

All I can say is whatever problems there were with the firmware, they must have worked them out. I believe this is where the industry is headed. I am an extremely avid hunter and have used many different optics. I do not believe there is anything on the market with these features at this price, daytime and nighttime hunting, multiple reticles, HD recording, adding features to your optics! Amazing. To be fair, this isn’t really a scope, it’s really a camera in a scope casing. It’s like your trail camera, only on steroids. The night vision part is really good. It is not NV like you traditionally , it is, again, a camera that is sensitive to IR, Again, just like your trail camera. I bought a separate IR illuminator and wish I hadn’t. I feel perfectly comfortable shooting out to 100 yards and knowing exactly what I am shooting at with the illuminator that came with the scope. It takes a little getting used to. You do have to keep the scope off until you see an animal or want to look through it. It will eat batteries. That said, I can think of more than one occasion where that would have cost me a deer. However, I will be using this thing when hunting season starts back. I would not be scared off by the reviews out here. There is a FB group that helped me make the decision to buy. https://www.facebook.com/groups/ATNXSightUsers/ They have even added a beta electonic balistics compensator into this scope now. I can see some really cool things they could do with this scope in the future. VERY glad I decided to buy this.

Not great.

Purchased both the X-sight 3-12 and 5-18 for a planned hog hunt for my son and I. Many issues with both. But, the 3-12 seemed to have the most. Both sights were mounted on AR platforms.

1022 Ruger for varmint

This night vision scope has opened up a whole new avenue for hunting varmints at night. I have never owned night vision before this but I am very pleased with the quality and features the scope offers. One downside would be it goes through batteries fairly quick but the positive side is that they are AA batteries and I just carry some spares with me if I need to change them out during the middle of a hunt. The other downside to the scope would be the eye relief and mounting is too far forward when I mounted it on my 1022 Ruger. I ended up having to purchase a rail extension to bring the scope further back to make it viewable when shouldering the rifle. And one other thing would be that the scope is on the heavy side it felt like it double the weight of the 1022 Ruger after mounting it. With all that said I would still consider buying another one or the new BinoX. It really is a great price for what you get.

I’m using this scope on a Remington R-15 chambered in a Bushmaster 450. I mention this because of the significant recoil. I use this scope for night hunting hogs from 50-75 yards and it more than serves my purpose. I love the fact I can video tape the hunt. I did have a problem with the scope shutting off and it was not because of the battery cap being lose. I called ATN and they sent me a Fed Ex label to send it back. They sent me a new scope within about 2 weeks. Customer service was top of the line. I would definitely buy this scope again and will look to buy more ATN products because of the customer service I received.

I do really enjoy this scope. It is not your grandpa’s scope that you dial in with a coin on a turret. It is all electronic and I would suggest that you feel comfortable with the technology but it is also fairly easy to learn with good tutorials online. ATN has addressed the major issues in the firmware but I am sure they will continue publish small upgrades as they are available. It is one of the strengths of the system. You are not stuck with a problem that wasn’t discovered or fixed at or before the time you purchased. They just publish new firmware, you install it, and you have the latest scope features without returning the scope for upgrade. I found that with my aging eyes I had to adjust the diaopter (rear lens) quite a bit to get clear focus on the reticle but then the sight image was crystal clear for both day and night , without my glasses !! I love this scope and would consider buying more if I end up with an application.

It arrived nicely packaged with all the extras that were supposed to …

I had read a lot of reviews on this day/night scope. Some of the negative reviews(of the first releases of this product) made me doubt if it was the product I wanted.

Nice night vision scope

So far I love this sight. I did add an evolva ir light but the included light worked very well until the batteries died. I purchased a couple of 5v battery sources to power the scope longer than using AA batteries. I am planning a YouTube video to show some of the video I have taken, the way I mounted my light and power source. Jason in their customer service department has been excellent. Replied promptly to every question I have had. I have shown some friends the video from the scope and we have been very impressed. I like it!!!

Good choice in a day/night weapon sight

I purchased this after a little looking into similar optics. I was a little let down with the IR light. After joining the Facebook forum, I have purchased a stronger, aftermarket IR light. My viewing range has exponentially increased.
